Building a membership site has challenges and features which are quite distinct from other internet sites, such as blogs or e-commerce sites. A community-based site normally focuses on promoting the community and supporting contributions from site members. Therefore, every aspect of the UX, that is the user experience, should align with these two main goals.
When members visit a community site, they generally want to browse, search, and/or contribute. Although creating an attractive site is important, the focus should be on creating a great user experience. It is essential to have content built for browsing, efficient search engines, and areas for members to contribute. A forum is an essential feature of a community site which really helps to create a sense of sharing and a sense of community.
